Achilles tendon ( RID3184 )
There was FHL transfer, with implantation of the FHL into the posterosuperior calcaneus. The FHL is intact, with some bright intrasubstance signal around a bioabsorbable screw, possibly related to screw degradation. There is a 3+ cm achilles defect with bright signal in the chronic tear; Im not at all sure why we are being asked to evaluate the achilles healing when there has been FHL rupture...can you explain this? Im surprised that there is bright signal in the defect 8 months post-op, as we usually see dark scarring in conservatively treated tendon tears in 3 months time. Note the old healed calcaneal osteotomy (white arrow) related to previous Haglunds procedure.
