posterior ankle impingement
There is a very tiny ossicle (red arrow) adjacent to the posterior talar process that is likely an os trigonum with min stress related BME in the os and adjacent posterior talus. The FHL(white arrow) is mildly thickened with min increased intrasubstance signal. There is mild thickening and fraying of the PTFL and mild thickening and edema of the post deep deltoid. There is both synovial thickening in the posterior lateral recess of the ankle and posterior subtalar effusion and mild synovial thickening. There is a small erosion (yellow arrow) of the posterolateral talar body; is this a feature of posterior ankle impingement? Is there no possible suspicion of underlying inflammatory arthropathy given this isolated finding in a ballerina, at high risk for PAI?
