flexor carpi radialis tendonitis and fray
F57 with chronic ventro-radial wrist pain. US showed:
1. Swollen tender hyperaemic heterogeneous texture FCR tendon = 'tendonitis' (asterisk). 2. Localized loss of smooth crisp deep tendon surface reflection at distal pole scaphoid level = tendon surface fraying (confirmed at operation). 3. Localized erosion volar aspect distal pole scaphoid contributing to tendon abrasion - STT joint was found to be 'open' at operation & scaphoid irregular. 4. Thick hyperaemic FCR retinaculum - tendon was 'clearly compressed' at operation. 5. Hyperaemic synovitis in FCR sheath proximally.
