supraspinatus muscle ( RID1941 )
There is a large, very high grade partial thickness bursal surface supraspinatus myotendinous junction tear. The distal 2.5cm segment of the tendon is degenerative. The defect measures 3.3 cm med-lateral. Note the large subacromial spur. The muscle is mildly T2 bright without fatty infiltration. (incidentally noted fatty replacement of the teres minor muscle) One of the referenced series in the attached articles reported antecedent steroid injections in the majority of their series; I dont know if this patient had received any injections prior to his injury.
