limb girdle muscular dystrophy
An autosomal recessive disorder of boys and girls. Initial manifestations, including a waddling gait and difficulty walking, relate to weakness of the pelvic girdle. Disease progression is variable, but other areas, such as the shoulders and extremities, may become involved. Scoliosis, coxa valga, and equinovarus deformities are seen.
