posteromedial bundle of posterior cruciate ligament ( RID2786 )
The clinician correctly suspected a partial tear of the PCL. In this case, the partial PCL rupture is an isolated injury. Slide 2 shows the complete tear of the posteromedial bundle of the PCL. There is a low grade sprain of the anterolateral bundle. Note that there are intact MFL of Humphrey and Wrisberg (both are present in 5%). I have previously posted a case showing that the MFLs falling into the defect, which I find helps to identify PCL tear. In this case, the MFLs indent, but do not fall into the AL bundle. Refer to the article (email attachment), which explains that the MFLs may be intact with PCL rupture and may splint the torn ligament while it heals.
