posterolateral corner of knee ( RID2795 )
The first slide coronal images show a Segond fracture (hinged cortical avulsion w/ mild marrow edema at the donor site). Second (not Segond) slide shows tear of the fibular collateral ligament. Axial image shows the injury to the posterolateral complex and the marrow edema related to the Segond fx. 4th slide shows intact ACL. I know we are taught Segond is virtually diagnostic of ACL tear, but Ive never seen an intact ACL, with the exception of an osseous avulsion of the tibial footplate with intact ACL. This surprised me. The attached case report is similar.
