Traction apophysitis 14 y/o with bilateral greater trochanteric edema, insertional edema of the gluteus medius and also bursitis. This is a good age for this diagnosis and can typically be found from around age 2 until the apophysis closes at around age 16. Differential consideration would be mostly infection but infection would have a different clinical presentation and not be bilateral unless systemic sepsis. [ Article ]
