stress fracture ( RID4695 )
There is endosteal and subtle periosteal edema localized to the medial subtrochanteric femur. The longitudinal stress fracture of the medial proximal femoral shaft is visible only in the axial PDFS images (mag view last image). This is in the neighborhood of thigh splints, but there is no adductor strain. This is a rare fracture pattern that has been reported mostly in older women as an insufficiency fracture. Ive previously posted an insufficiency fracture, but have never seen a fatigue fracture in this location. The axial images are essential to confirm the fracture. This case was shared with me by my colleague Jarett Burak.
