Posterior plica of the shoulder
Posterior shoulder plica is an uncommon finding in MRI and MR arthrography of the shoulder. It should not be confused with labral tears. As in other joints, the posterior synovial plicae of the shoulder is an embryonic remnant without a known specific function. The posterior fold of the elbow runs with a longitudinal path from the posterior margin of the axillary recess and posterior band of the inferior glenohumeral ligament to the muscular belly of the infraspinatus.
