plantar plate of metatarsophalangeal joint ( RID3134 )
There is a full thickness tear of the 3rd MTPJ plantar plate, with up to 5.3mm retraction lateral to midline and widening of the midline capsular recess (indicating extension through midline). The 2nd PP is smoothly thinned (probably abnormal), but there is no focal defect. There is plantar/plantar lateral pericapsular edema at 3rd > 2nd MTPJ. There is no neuroma (suspected at the 3rd IS). Note the prior HAV correction / 1st MT osteotomy. There is marked relative elongation of the 2nd c/w the 1st MT (likely exacerbated by post surgical shortening of the 1st, which is problematic, and shifts stress to the 2nd and 3rd MTPJ region).
