Femoral shaft fracture seen only on localizers
Radiographs were read (correctly) as negative. ER doc ordered MR knee because patient couldnt walk. MR shows VL edema but was otherwise normal. A look at the scouts, however, shows a femoral shaft fracture out of the MR FOV. Subsequent large FOV images confirm it. ER doc was flabbergasted.
