Discussion

M49 with persistent middle-3rd lower abdominal pain after benchpress injury 4 months ago - an 80kg barbell dropped onto the lower rib cage and then rolled inferiorly to the iliac crests.

Previous CT and US were negative. A repeat US showed no localised tenderness and no structural defect. The MRI appears to show acute denervation of the lower internal oblique and transversus abdominis muscles bilaterally, which I presume to reflect stretch-related injury of the related segmental nerves on both sides.
