Discussion

There is an anteriorly flipped bucket-handle type tear of a discoid lateral meniscus, which is not so interesting, until you see the prior MRI 16 months ago. At that time it appears that there was medial displacement of the posterior portion of the discoid LM, with thick irregular linear structures adjacent to the posterior horn region that I think were torn popliteomeniscal fascicles. Perhaps that predisposed to the current injury. The alternative possilbility is that this is a hypermobile discoid lateral meniscus, perhaps a Wrisberg variant. What do you think? Reference article.
