Discussion

There is abduction of the small finger but no fracture. MRI shows complete avulsion of the RCL which is retracted and displaced through and superficial to a defect in the torn radial sagittal band. The attached article reports 38 cases of Stener like lesions of the MP joints, of which the majority (21) affected the radial side of the small finger. Reference article.
