Discussion

Most PTT tears are chronic, microdegenerative, most commonly in older women. Acute sports related or traumatic tears occur less frequently. More often in these individuals we see stress injuries to the synchondrosis of an accessory navicular, or (not so often) insertional stress injury to the navicular or, as in this case, a type II accessory navicular. Im not even sure what journal the article is from, but I recommend reading the paragraph above this short article. Its odd what gets published...considering what Ive had rejected. Reference article.
