DEFINITION:
angle formed by a vertical line and a line connecting the femoral head center with the lateral edge of the acetabulum. compare normal (figure 1) with abnormal over coverage (figure 2)

ABNORMAL:
if < 25 degrees then dysplasia
if > 39 degrees then acetabular over coverage, seen in pincer type femoral acetabular impingement
